Ductwork Repair in Buford & North Georgia
Disconnected, leaking, or crushed ducts? Southeast repairs residential ductwork in Buford & North Georgia after an in-person look. Call (770) 265-8308.
Ductwork repair fixes a specific fault, like a disconnected run, a leaking joint, or a crushed section of flex duct, without replacing ducts that still work. Southeast repairs residential ductwork across Buford and the surrounding communities after an in-person evaluation.
What counts as ductwork repair?
Ductwork repair is targeted work. Something specific has failed, we find it, and we fix that thing. The ducts that are sized right and in good shape stay exactly where they are.
The repairs we do most often look like this:
- Reconnecting a run that pulled loose at the boot (the metal collar behind the vent), at the trunk line, or at the plenum where the ducts meet the equipment.
- Sealing leaking joints and seams with mastic, a paste-like sealant made for ducts, instead of the tape that dried out and let go in the first place.
- Replacing a crushed, kinked, or torn section of flex duct with a new section, properly stretched and supported.
- Adding supports and straps so long runs stop sagging and choking the airflow.
- Repairing damaged insulation on ducts running through hot attics or damp crawlspaces.
- Correcting a return-air problem where a fix at the grille, filter rack, or return connection restores the air the system needs to breathe.
What ductwork repair isn't: a patch job on a duct system that was never right. When the layout is wrong or the ducts are failing in too many places, we'll say so and point you toward ductwork replacement instead. We'd rather lose a small repair than sell you a fix that won't hold.
How do you know a duct needs repair instead of replacement?
You usually can't tell from inside the house. A disconnected duct and an undersized trunk line both show up as a weak vent and a room that never feels right. The difference is in the attic.
That's why every duct repair starts with our ductwork evaluation and airflow testing. The technician measures airflow at the registers, traces the ducts, and finds the actual fault. Then the call is simple:
- Repair when the problem is one or a few specific failures on a duct system that's otherwise sized and laid out correctly.
- Replacement when the ducts are undersized for the equipment, badly routed, or failing in so many places that patching would cost more than it's worth.
Signs that usually land on the repair side: one room went bad while the others stayed fine, a vent that used to blow and suddenly doesn't, a new sag or stain in the ceiling near a duct run, or a duct you can see hanging loose during an attic visit. Signs that lean toward replacement: the whole upstairs has been uncomfortable since the day you moved in, or the ducts were sized for a system two replacements ago.
What happens if you leave a duct problem alone?
Ductwork faults don't heal, and they don't stay put. A few things tend to follow:
- You keep conditioning the attic. Air you paid to heat or cool leaves through the leak or the open end instead of reaching the room. The house takes longer to get comfortable, and the system runs longer to get there.
- Humidity creeps in. A leaky return in a North Georgia crawlspace pulls damp, unconditioned air into the system all summer. That's a hard fight for any air conditioner to win.
- The equipment strains. Restricted airflow makes coils run colder than they should, blowers work harder, and furnaces overheat. Some of the repeat AC and furnace repairs we see trace back to a duct problem nobody fixed.
- The small problem grows. A sagging run becomes a kinked run. A loose connection becomes a disconnected one. Insulation that's peeled back gets soaked.
None of this is an emergency, and we won't pretend it is. But it's the kind of thing that's easier to handle on a scheduled visit this month than during a heat wave next summer.
How does Southeast repair ductwork?
Here's how a duct repair goes from first call to finished, for homeowners in Buford, Flowery Branch, Braselton, Hoschton, and the surrounding North Georgia area:
- Evaluation first. If you're calling about a comfort or airflow problem, the visit starts as our standard $79 diagnostic, and the technician tests airflow and traces the ducts to find the fault.
- Written proposal. You get the findings in plain language and a written price for the specific repair before anything is touched. No number is given over the phone, because we haven't seen the ducts yet.
- Scheduled visit. Ductwork repair is a regular-hours appointment, not an emergency dispatch. Our office calls or texts to confirm the date and time.
- The repair. The technician reconnects, reseals, replaces, or re-supports what the proposal covers, and works clean in your attic or crawlspace.
- Airflow check after. We measure at the affected registers again so you can see the difference, not just take our word for it.
We work on ducts attached to all major HVAC brands. We don't work on window units, geothermal systems, boilers, oil furnaces, mobile-home equipment, or commercial units, and we'll tell you that up front rather than waste your time.
We're an independent, family-owned company working out of our Buford office, Georgia license CR110452, with 979 five-star Google reviews as of September 2026. And we stand behind the work: if a problem is caused by our workmanship, Southeast will return and correct it at no charge.
What does ductwork repair cost?
We don't publish ductwork prices, and we won't quote a duct repair online or over the phone. A loose boot in an easy-access attic and a torn run buried under blown insulation in a tight crawlspace are very different jobs. Here's what we can promise up front:
- The comfort or airflow call starts as our standard $79 diagnostic. It's typically charged and covers finding the cause.
- Every repair gets a written proposal before work starts. You'll know the number before we pick up a tool.
- Southeast Family Plan members get 15% off qualifying repairs, priority service, and no after-hours charge. The plan is $149 a year for the first system and $109 for each additional one, and it includes two visits a year that are a good time to catch duct problems early.
- When duct work is part of a new-system project, Service Finance options apply to the project, with credit approval; see financing terms.
If the evaluation shows that repair isn't the smart spend, we'll say so and walk you through ductwork replacement instead. Read our repair-or-replace guide to see how we think through that decision on equipment; the logic for ducts is the same.
