Heat Pump Service in Buford & North Georgia

Heat pump service in Buford and the surrounding communities: repair, maintenance, diagnostics and replacement. Family owned. Call (770) 265-8308.

Freshly installed outdoor unit

Heat pump service covers every visit a heat pump needs over its life: repair when it fails, maintenance to keep it ready, diagnostics when you need answers, and replacement when it's time. Southeast serves homeowners across Buford and the surrounding communities.

What does heat pump service include at Southeast?

A heat pump heats and cools your home with one outdoor unit and one indoor air handler, switching modes with a reversing valve and leaning on electric heat strips for backup on the coldest nights. Because it runs nearly year-round, it needs more kinds of attention than a furnace or an AC alone. Heat pump service is our umbrella for all of it:

  • Heat pump repair when the system stops heating or cooling, ices over, trips a breaker or makes a noise it shouldn't.
  • Heat pump maintenance: seasonal cleaning, testing and adjustment, either as a $49 seasonal tune-up or through the Southeast Family Plan.
  • Diagnostics and inspection: the $79 visit that finds the real cause of a problem, or gives you an honest picture of a system's condition before you spend money on it.
  • Installation and replacement: a new, properly sized Daikin R-32 heat pump, with a free in-home estimate first.

We service all major heat pump brands. We don't service window units, geothermal systems, boilers, oil furnaces, mobile-home equipment or commercial units. That isn't a service we currently offer, and we don't want to waste your time by pretending otherwise.

Which heat pump visit do I need?

Most homeowners don't call asking for a "diagnostic" or a "tune-up." They call with a situation. Here's how we match the situation to the visit.

"My heat pump isn't heating or cooling."

That's a repair call, and it starts with the $79 diagnostic. The technician finds the cause, prices the fix in writing and gets your OK before doing the work. If the house is completely without heat or cooling, tell our office when you call so we can prioritize it as capacity allows.

"It's running, but something seems off."

Ice that doesn't clear, backup heat that runs all the time, a new noise, rooms that don't feel right. Book a diagnostic. It's better to find a small problem now than to discover a big one in the middle of a cold snap.

"It works fine. I just want to keep it that way."

That's maintenance. A heat pump should be serviced before cooling season and again before heating season, which is why the Family Plan includes two visits a year. If you only want one seasonal check, ask about the $49 tune-up.

"Someone told me I need a new system."

Get a second opinion before you commit. Our inspection uses the same testing as a diagnostic and ends with a straight answer. If replacement really is the right call, we'll offer a free replacement estimate with a Manual J load calculation so the new system is sized to the home, not guessed.

"I'm just not sure."

Call or text (770) 265-8308 and describe what's happening. Our office team will point you to the right visit. We try to answer calls 24/7 and aim to respond within 24 hours.

What happens if I book the wrong kind of visit?

It's not a disaster, but it can cost you time. A tune-up booked for a system that's actually broken turns into a diagnostic on site, and the repair may need a second trip if a part isn't on the truck. A repair call for a system that's really just dirty ends up being maintenance you could have scheduled at your convenience. Booking a replacement estimate for a system that needs a simple repair means a comfort consultant visit when a technician was the right person to send.

The bigger risk is delay. A heat pump that's icing over in December, or running on backup heat strips for weeks, is working harder than it should and may be hiding a part failure. A weak capacitor in spring becomes a no-start call in August. We'd rather see the system early. If you tell us what you're seeing, we'll book the right visit the first time.

What is a Southeast heat pump service call like?

Southeast Heating & Cooling is family owned and locally owned, run by Phillip Suggs and Brian Malone from our office at 4582 Atwater Ct STE 8 in Buford. We've served North Georgia homeowners since 2022, and we hold Georgia HVAC license CR110452. Here's what to expect on any heat pump visit:

  1. Confirmation. After you book, our office calls or texts to confirm. A request isn't final until we confirm it.
  2. Arrival. A uniformed technician in a wrapped Southeast vehicle. You'll know who's at the door.
  3. The work. Testing, cleaning or repair, depending on the visit. We explain what we're doing as we go.
  4. Straight options. Findings in plain language and a written price before any additional work. You decide.
  5. Follow-through. If a problem is caused by our workmanship, Southeast will return and correct it at no charge.

Our 5.0 Google rating across 979 reviews as of September 2026 is the clearest proof we have that this is how it actually goes. More than 1,000 homeowners have joined the Southeast Family Plan, and a lot of them started with a single service call.

What does heat pump service cost?

We publish what we can and quote the rest after seeing the system. Every home is different, and we won't guess.

  • Diagnostic visit: $79, typically charged. Repair pricing is quoted in writing after diagnosis.
  • Seasonal tune-up: $49 when the promotion is active.
  • Southeast Family Plan: $149 a year for the first system, $109 for each additional system. Two visits, standard 1-inch pleated filters, drain and coil cleaning, 15% off qualifying repairs, priority service and no after-hours charge. See the Family Plan page.
  • Replacement estimate: free, in your home, no obligation.
  • New system: quoted after a Manual J. Service Finance options include 18 months at 0% interest, 12 months with no payments and no interest, and 180 months at 9.99%, with payment examples from $99 a month for a complete system. With credit approval; see financing terms.

Nonmember after-hours pricing varies and is confirmed before dispatch. If you're weighing a repair against a new system, our Learning Center guide on single-stage, two-stage and variable-speed systems explains what you'd be choosing between.

How do I schedule heat pump service?

From Buford we cover Sugar Hill, Suwanee, Cumming and the surrounding North Georgia communities. For Duluth and Johns Creek, scheduling depends on capacity, and we'll be honest about timing when you call. For a system that's completely down, see our emergency HVAC page. Frequently asked questions

What happens after I book online? +
Our office calls or texts to confirm the appointment. A request is not final until it is confirmed.
Do you service all HVAC brands? +
We service all major HVAC brands, but we do not service window units, geothermal systems, boilers, oil furnaces, mobile-home equipment or commercial units.
Is a heat pump the same as an air conditioner? +
In summer, yes: a heat pump cools exactly like an AC. In winter it reverses and pulls heat from the outdoor air into your home. Most heat pumps also have electric heat strips in the air handler for backup on the coldest nights, which is why they need a different kind of service than a furnace or AC alone.
Do you offer HVAC financing? +
Yes. Southeast offers Service Finance options including approved promotional programs and payment examples as low as $59/month for heating, $69/month for AC, or $99/month for a complete system, subject to credit approval and current terms.
Is there an after-hours charge? +
Southeast Family Plan members pay no after-hours charge. For nonmembers, after-hours pricing varies, and our office confirms it with you before a technician is dispatched.
