AC Installation in Buford & North Georgia
Daikin R-32 AC installation sized with a Manual J, permitted and warranty-registered by Southeast Heating & Cooling. Free estimate. Call (770) 265-8308.
AC installation is sizing, setting, connecting and starting up a new air conditioner so it performs as designed. Southeast installs Daikin R-32 systems across Buford and the surrounding communities, with a Manual J load calculation on every replacement.
What does a proper AC installation include?
The equipment gets the attention, but the installation is what you actually live with. Two homes can get the same Daikin model and have completely different results depending on who set it and how. A complete central AC installation covers:
- Sizing. A Manual J load calculation, the industry method for figuring out how much cooling your home really needs based on its size, insulation, windows, orientation and layout. Not a guess from the old unit's label.
- Matched equipment. The outdoor condenser and the indoor evaporator coil are designed to work as a pair. Mismatched halves are a common reason a new system disappoints.
- Refrigerant lines and charge. The copper line set is sized and run correctly, then the system is charged to the manufacturer's specification, not just close enough.
- Electrical. Correct breaker, disconnect and wiring for the new equipment.
- Drain and pad. A properly pitched condensate drain (the line that carries away moisture) and a level pad for the outdoor unit.
- Thermostat and controls set up for the equipment you bought. Variable-speed systems in particular need the right controller to do what they're designed to do.
- Permit, startup and registration. Southeast pulls the required permit, commissions the system (runs it, measures it and confirms it's operating to spec) and registers the manufacturer warranty for you.
Our AC replacement page covers the question of whether you should replace at all. This page is about the how, because the how is where installs go right or wrong.
When do you need a new air conditioner installed?
Homeowners in Buford, Suwanee, Hoschton, Flowery Branch and Cumming come to us for a new AC in a few situations:
- The existing system has failed, or a major repair like a compressor doesn't make sense for its condition.
- The current unit was installed poorly. A newer system can still be a replacement candidate if it was sized wrong, charged wrong or connected to ducts it can't work with. We inspect the whole situation before recommending anything.
- You're moving from a single-stage system to a two-stage or Daikin Fit variable-speed system for better comfort, often alongside a furnace or heat pump replacement.
- Your home has heat but no central cooling, and there's ductwork in place to work with.
If you're not sure which situation you're in, start with our $79 AC diagnostic and inspection. We'll tell you whether repair is the smarter move, and we will say repair when that's the honest answer.
What goes wrong when an AC is installed poorly?
We see the results of rushed installs in homes across our service area, and the pattern is predictable:
Oversizing
A unit that's too big cools the air fast and shuts off before it has time to pull humidity out. The house hits the set temperature but feels clammy. Bigger is not better. This is one of the most common mistake a Manual J prevents.
Wrong refrigerant charge
Too little and the system can't move enough heat; too much and it strains the compressor. Either way, the equipment works harder than it should from day one.
Leaky or undersized connections
Poorly sealed duct transitions at the air handler, a kinked line set or an undersized return can starve a brand-new system of airflow. A great condenser can't fix bad air delivery.
Skipped commissioning
If nobody measured temperatures, pressures and airflow at startup, nobody knows whether the install is right. Problems show up as complaints in August instead of adjustments in April.
No permit, no registration
Skipping the permit skips the inspection, and an unregistered warranty can leave you with less coverage than you paid for.
How does Southeast install an air conditioner?
- Free replacement estimate. A comfort consultant visits, looks at the current system, ducts, electrical and the space, and listens to what you want fixed.
- Manual J load calculation. We size the system to the home. Read why we do a Manual J on every replacement.
- Written proposal with real options. Single-stage, two-stage or Daikin Fit variable-speed, with the actual models, matched efficiency and warranty for each. Every home is different, so the proposal is specific to yours.
- Financing, if you want it. Service Finance options are reviewed before you commit.
- Permit pulled by Southeast. The permit cost is included in your quoted price.
- Installation day. Our installers remove and dispose of the old equipment, set the new system, run and charge the lines, complete the electrical and drain work, and set up the thermostat.
- Startup and commissioning. We run the system, measure it and confirm it's operating to spec before we leave.
- Warranty registration and follow-up. We register the manufacturer warranty and stay reachable if anything needs adjusting.
Southeast is a Daikin Premier Dealer, and every new Daikin system we install uses R-32 refrigerant. We'll explain the refrigerant choice during the proposal. Whatever installer you choose, ask about serviceability, parts availability and the safety requirements of the refrigerant they use.
Labor warranties are tied to the tier: one year of Southeast labor coverage on single-stage systems, three years on two-stage, and five years on Daikin Fit variable-speed systems. Qualifying Daikin equipment carries 12-year parts coverage, with six-year unit replacement on qualifying single-stage systems and up to 12-year unit replacement on qualifying Fit systems, subject to Daikin's terms and registration. And if a problem is caused by our workmanship, Southeast will return and correct it at no charge.
Southeast is family owned and locally owned, founded in 2022, owned by Phillip Suggs and Brian Malone, licensed in Georgia (CR110452), with 979 five-star Google reviews as of September 2026.
What does AC installation cost?
The honest answer is that it depends on your home, the system size the Manual J calls for, the tier you choose, duct and electrical conditions, and the warranty package. We don't post cash prices online because a number that ignores those things isn't a real quote. What we can tell you:
- The estimate is free. Removal and disposal of the old equipment and any required permit are included in the quoted installation price.
- Payment examples start at $69 a month for an AC system and $99 a month for a complete heating and cooling system, with credit approval; see financing terms.
- Service Finance programs include 18 months at 0% interest, 12 months with no payments and no interest, and 180-month terms at 9.99%, with credit approval. Details are on our financing page.
- Up to $1,000 off a new system is available; some restrictions may apply. See current promotions.
Once your new system is in, the Southeast Family Plan keeps it maintained with two visits a year, filter changes, coil and drain cleaning and 15% off qualifying repairs. Our AC maintenance page explains what those visits cover.
