Furnace Replacement in Buford & North Georgia

Repair or replace your furnace? Southeast gives a straight answer and a free replacement estimate in Buford and nearby cities. Call (770) 265-8308.

New air handler installed in a basement

Replace your furnace when repair no longer makes sense: a cracked heat exchanger, a major failure on a poorly installed unit, or repeat breakdowns. Southeast gives Buford and the surrounding communities homeowners a free replacement estimate and a straight answer.

When should I replace my furnace instead of repairing it?

We don't use age alone, and we don't use a formula. A furnace is a replacement candidate when the evidence says the money is better spent on a new one. Here's what we weigh, in the order we usually weigh it:

  1. The repair in front of you. What it costs, and whether it actually restores reliable heat or just resets the clock on the next failure.
  2. How it was installed. A furnace that was oversized, starved for airflow or vented wrong from day one will keep failing no matter how many parts go in. A newer furnace can be a replacement candidate for this reason alone.
  3. Overall condition. Heat exchanger, blower, cabinet corrosion and what's likely to fail next.
  4. Warranty and parts. Is anything still covered? Are parts still available for the model?
  5. Comfort. Rooms that never warm up, noise, uneven heat: things a repair won't touch.
  6. Fit with the rest of the system. Is it the right size for the house, and does it work with the ductwork and any zoning?
  7. Your plans. How long you'll keep the home, and whether cash or a monthly payment matters more.

Some findings settle the question on their own. A cracked heat exchanger means the furnace shouldn't run; the metal wall that keeps combustion gases out of your air can't be patched, and replacing the exchanger is major work. A furnace that's needed a repair every winter for several years is telling you something. And a furnace whose parts are no longer made can't be repaired even if you want to.

Other findings point the other way. One failed part on a sound, well-installed furnace with a clean heat exchanger is a repair, and we'll say so. Our furnace repair page covers that side, and the repair or replace article in our Learning Center walks through the same decision with examples.

What are my options when replacing a gas furnace?

Replacing a furnace in Braselton, Hoschton or Dacula isn't only a choice of model. It's a choice of what heats the house:

  • A new gas furnace, like for like. The most common path. Keeps your gas heat, and usually pairs with the existing air conditioner if the coil and outdoor unit are in good shape.
  • Furnace and air conditioner together. If the outdoor unit is near the end too, a matched system means one crew visit, one permit and equipment designed for each other. All new Daikin systems we install use R-32 refrigerant on the cooling side.
  • Dual fuel: heat pump plus gas furnace. The heat pump handles the mild days, which is most of a North Georgia winter, and the furnace takes over when a real cold snap hits. A good fit for homeowners who want to run on electricity most of the time and still have gas heat in reserve.
  • Heat pump conversion. Retiring gas heat entirely. It's the right call for some homes and the wrong one for others; our heat pump installation page explains the trade-offs.

Daikin is our primary brand. We're a Daikin Premier Dealer, and we service all major brands, so the estimate is about what fits your house, not about moving a particular box.

Which tier is right: single-stage, two-stage or variable-speed?

Once you know what you're replacing with, the tier decides how it runs and how long we cover the labor:

  • Single-stage: on or off, lowest cost, 1-year Southeast labor warranty. Qualifying Daikin single-stage equipment carries 12-year parts coverage and a 6-year unit replacement under Daikin's terms. Right for a homeowner who needs a dependable replacement and accepts basic staging. Not right if you want the quietest, most even heat or the longest labor warranty.
  • Two-stage: a low and a high setting, 3-year Southeast labor warranty. The middle ground for a homeowner balancing comfort and price. Not right if you want the least-cost option or full variable-speed behavior.
  • Variable-speed with Daikin Fit: the burner and blower modulate to match the house, 5-year Southeast labor warranty. Qualifying Fit equipment carries 12-year parts and up to 12-year unit replacement under Daikin's terms. Right for a homeowner who prioritizes comfort, quiet and the strongest warranty package. Not automatically right for every home; ductwork, controls and budget can make another tier the smarter buy, and we'll tell you if so.

All manufacturer coverage depends on registration and Daikin's written terms, which we put in your proposal. The Daikin Fit page covers the variable-speed system in detail.

How does Southeast handle a furnace replacement?

It starts with a free in-home replacement estimate. That visit isn't a sales pitch with a clipboard. We look at the whole system: the furnace, the coil, the ductwork, the venting, the gas line, the electrical and the thermostat. We run a Manual J load calculation, the industry method for sizing the system to the house instead of copying what was there. Then we write up the options that fit, with the price, the equipment, the labor warranty and the manufacturer coverage for each, and we leave you to decide.

From there: financing if you want it, the permit pulled by our office, installation by our crew, startup and commissioning, warranty registration, and a follow-up to make sure it's running the way it should. The full install-day process is on our furnace installation page.

What stands behind it: Southeast is family owned and locally owned, run by owners Phillip Suggs and Brian Malone out of our Buford office, licensed in Georgia under CR110452, and rated 5.0 on Google across 979 reviews as of September 2026. If a problem is caused by our workmanship, Southeast will return and correct it at no charge. Homeowners in Flowery Branch and across the Buford area have trusted us with this decision since 2022.

How much does a furnace replacement cost?

It depends on the home, the size the Manual J calls for, the tier, whether venting or gas line work changes, duct and electrical needs, where the furnace sits, and whether the air conditioner is replaced too. We don't publish cash prices online because a number without a house attached would be a guess, and you'd make a decision on it. The free estimate gives you a written price for each option. What's always included: removal and disposal of the old furnace, standard startup and commissioning, and the required permit, with its cost in the quoted price.

If a monthly number is more useful than a total, Service Finance payment examples start at $59 a month for a heating system and $99 a month for a complete heating and cooling system with credit approval, and the current programs and terms are on our financing page. You may qualify for up to $1,000 off a new system; some restrictions may apply, and the current offers are listed under specials. Our HVAC system cost article explains the price drivers in more detail.

Once the new furnace is in, the Southeast Family Plan covers its maintenance: $149 a year for the first system, with two visits and 15% off qualifying repairs.

Can a newer furnace still need replacement? +
Yes. A newer system may be installed so poorly, or face such a major repair, that replacement is the better long-term option. We inspect the whole situation before recommending it.
How much does a new furnace cost? +

What brand does Southeast recommend? +
Daikin is our primary brand. We currently install Daikin R-32 systems and offer single-stage, two-stage, and Daikin Fit variable-speed options based on the home and customer priorities.

Yes. Southeast offers Service Finance options including approved promotional programs and payment examples as low as $59/month for heating, $69/month for AC, or $99/month for a complete system, subject to credit approval and current terms.
