Heating Replacement in Buford & North Georgia

Furnace and heat pump replacement in Buford and the surrounding communities. Manual J sizing, financing from $59/mo with credit approval. Call (770) 265-8308.

Technician connecting ductwork

Heating replacement means removing a furnace, heat pump, or air handler that isn't worth fixing and installing a right-sized new one. Southeast offers free estimates across Buford and the surrounding communities and financing from $59 a month with credit approval.

We size every replacement with a Manual J load calculation, pull the required permit, register the manufacturer warranty, and haul away the old equipment. Call or text (770) 265-8308 to set up a free replacement estimate.

When does heating replacement make more sense than repair?

We don't decide this by age, and we don't use a percentage formula. The answer flips based on evidence. Replacement usually wins when several of these line up:

  • The repair is major and the system has other problems. A new blower motor on a furnace with a rusted heat exchanger is money spent on a system that's still failing.
  • There's a safety failure. A cracked heat exchanger can't be patched. Depending on the age and condition of the rest of the furnace, replacement is often the sensible route.
  • It was installed poorly. A newer system may be installed so badly, or face such a major repair, that replacement is the better long-term option. We inspect the whole situation before recommending it.
  • Parts are hard to get or the warranty has run out. Repair costs climb and downtime stretches.
  • The repair won't fix the comfort problem. Uneven rooms, humidity, noise, or a system that was never sized right don't go away with a new part.
  • You plan to stay. A new system with a fresh labor and manufacturer warranty makes more sense the longer you'll be there.

And when they don't line up, we say so. One failed part on an otherwise sound system gets repaired. Our Learning Center guide on repairing or replacing your HVAC system goes through the full decision.

What are your options when replacing a heating system?

Replace the furnace

If you have gas and the air conditioning side is in good shape, a new gas furnace is the direct replacement. We match it to your existing cooling coil and ductwork and check that the venting and gas supply are right for the new unit. Gas-specific detail is on our furnace replacement page.

Replace with a heat pump

A heat pump heats and cools from one outdoor unit, with electric heat strips in the air handler as backup for the coldest nights. It's a good fit for all-electric homes and for homeowners who want to move away from gas. The estimate covers whether your electrical panel and ductwork support it. See heat pump replacement.

Replace the whole system

If the heating and cooling equipment are both near the end, replacing them together means matched equipment, one warranty start date, and one installation. Complete systems finance from $99 a month with credit approval.

Pick a tier

Every option comes in three tiers, and the labor warranty follows the tier: single-stage (1-year Southeast labor warranty), two-stage (3-year), and Daikin Fit variable-speed (5-year). Daikin is our primary brand, we're a Daikin Premier Dealer, and every new Daikin system we install uses R-32 refrigerant. The Daikin central systems page compares the tiers.

What does a replacement add that a plain installation doesn't?

The decision, mostly. Because a replacement starts with equipment that's already in the house, the free estimate doubles as an evidence check on it: what has failed, what's next in line (a heat exchanger showing corrosion, a compressor that's getting harder to start, a blower motor on its second or third capacitor), whether the original install set it up to struggle, and whether one more repair would honestly buy you a reliable winter; that evidence goes in writing next to the new-system options, so you can weigh a repair against a replacement using the same facts we're looking at. The other thing a replacement adds is the old equipment itself, which our crew disconnects, gets out of the attic, closet or crawlspace, and takes away for disposal as part of the quoted price rather than as an add-on. Everything from the Manual J to commissioning day is the same job we do on any new system, and it's laid out step by step on our heating installation page.

What mistakes should you avoid when replacing a heating system?

  • Buying the same size as before. The old unit may have been wrong from day one. Insist on a load calculation.
  • Ignoring the ductwork. New equipment on bad ducts performs like old equipment. We evaluate ducts at the estimate and quote any duct work separately after inspection; nobody should price ductwork sight unseen.
  • Skipping the permit. You lose the independent inspection and the record that the work was done to code.
  • Choosing a tier on price alone, or on features alone. The right tier depends on your home, your ducts, your comfort complaints, and how long you'll stay. We show you all three.
  • Leaving the warranty unregistered. We handle registration so you get the coverage the equipment is eligible for.
  • Not getting the labor warranty in writing. Ours is in the proposal, by tier.

How much does heating replacement cost?

There's no honest single number, because the price is built from your house: the load the Manual J comes back with, which of the three tiers you pick, whether the ducts, electrical or venting need work, and how much of the system you're replacing. That's why we keep cash prices off the website; a figure produced before anyone has looked at your ductwork or your panel isn't a quote, and it shouldn't be treated like one. What we can say for certain:

  • The estimate is free.
  • The quoted price includes removal and disposal of the old equipment, the permit when required, standard startup and commissioning, and warranty registration.
  • Financing is available through Service Finance, with heating systems from $59 a month and complete systems from $99 a month with credit approval; the current programs and terms are on our financing page.
  • Up to $1,000 off a new system. Some restrictions may apply.
  • All common forms of payment, with no credit-card processing fee.

For the variables that move the number up or down, read how much a new HVAC system costs in the Learning Center.

What warranty comes with a replacement?

The proposal names both layers: Southeast's labor warranty follows the tier you picked above, and Daikin's parts and unit-replacement coverage on qualifying equipment is written out for your exact models, subject to Daikin's terms and registration; our Learning Center piece on HVAC warranties explained shows how the two work together. Once the system is in, the Southeast Family Plan takes over the upkeep: two visits a year, standard filters, and 15% off qualifying repairs.

Where does Southeast replace heating systems?

Replacements are scheduled work, so we cover the full approved area from Buford: Sugar Hill, Suwanee, Braselton, Hoschton, Flowery Branch, Dacula, Cumming, Gainesville, Alpharetta, and Milton, with edge markets like Dawsonville and Jefferson handled job by job. Southeast is family owned and locally owned, founded in 2022, owned by Phillip Suggs and Brian Malone, holds Georgia license CR110452, and has a 5.0 Google rating across 979 reviews as of September 2026. The heating services page has the rest of what we do.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a new HVAC system cost? +
It depends on the home, system size, installation conditions, efficiency and staging, duct and electrical needs, and the selected warranty. Southeast provides a free replacement estimate and can show ballpark monthly-payment options.
Do you offer HVAC financing? +
Yes. Southeast offers Service Finance options including approved promotional programs and payment examples as low as $59/month for heating, $69/month for AC, or $99/month for a complete system, subject to credit approval and current terms.
What happens to my old equipment? +
We remove it and dispose of it. Removal and disposal are included in the replacement quote, along with the permit when required and standard startup.
Why size the system instead of matching the old one? +
Because the old one may have been wrong. Southeast performs a Manual J load calculation, the industry method for sizing the system to the home, so the new equipment fits your square footage, insulation, windows, and ductwork rather than a like-for-like assumption.
Do you stand behind your work? +
Yes. If a problem is caused by our workmanship, Southeast returns and corrects it at no charge. Exact written warranty terms control.
